Porn money and 70s party in the Old Town
There was a bang in the 1970s with chicken knitting, velor dresses, rock music, welfare and freedom. All elements revive the Old Town now on all weekends in September with fashion shows, live music, food, cars and not least a time travel back to apartments and shops as then.
That the good 1970s vibrations are still popular today is reflected, among other things, in one of the vending machines in the Old Town’s 1974 district.
Here, several visitors over the years have tried to get their hands on a time-typical porn magazine for DKK 1, even though it is clear to the majority that the machine is an exhibition model and is no longer functional. This has meant that the vending machine was filled to the brim with coins, and if you look closer in Den Gamle Bys bookkeeping for 2021, there is now an entry with the term ‘porn money’.
In recent years, the Old Town has put a special focus on the 1970s, but now there will be extra bang for a full four weekends in September. Among other things. with special fashion shows with duck feet, velor dresses and velvet trousers with a large sway and of course spiced with expressions such as “wide ymer” and “knee-high cress”.
During the four weekends, it is also possible to get behind the facade of a new butcher shop, which is currently being rebuilt in the 1974 district. Here, the museum experts share their knowledge and give an exciting insight into how to rebuild a butcher with meat, sounds and smells from that time.
